Just started, could use some tips.

Alright, well I wanted to be an I-Gear. I've done a fair bit of research and I've determined to go attack build, and once I hit 70, go pure AGI. I have a few questions, though.

At the moment I'm level 15, and I haven't bought anything. No skills, no CPUs, no nothing. My stats are: Attack 64, Fuel 9.

1) I was wondering, when should I bother getting more Fuel, and more Spirit?

2) Should I buy anything, and what level should I buy it? What type of NPC gear should I be getting in the future?

3) What skills should I spend my money on?

Here's my two cents. Keep in mind I'm only at level 40.

1.) Get Fuel and Spirit as you need them (as you improve your equipment and skills).
Raise them sparingly, however; I hear you won't need more than 30 Fuel for most of the game. Raise your Spirit when you need more SP to use all your skills (and later on, to have some left to use movement skills with buffs on).

2.) If there's something in an NPC shop that's better than what you have or can get, feel free to buy it if you like. However, NPC gear tends only to be useful at low levels when you can't get anything better with drops or carding.

3.) At low levels, just get all the skills. They don't cost much and the buffs will help immensely. As higher skills levels become available, just check to see whether you think the new skill is worth it or not (for example, the highest level of fire shot adds maybe like 1% damage for 15 more SP or something like that; not really worth it. However, you won't need to worry about that for awhile; get all the skills available to you, since they're an immense help. Also, make sure you click the other tabs; I didn't even realize there were more skills there until after level 30, haha.)

Thanks! What does "Yellow/Pink Ion Radar" do? I see some in the parts shop, but their description is hard to understand. I also noticed that higher level engines require agility.. Should I not bother getting a new engine, or should I upgrade my agility accordingly? I was told to go pure atk, with fuel/spirit as needed, so I'm not too sure if I should raise agi or not.

You should go see on forums the "I-Gear" section, that is a good place to find out where to grind, what weapons to use etc.
With your skills, buy them all. When you get a skill called "Frenzy", use weapons called "Edrill". Thats what you are supposed to use (atleast i think so, some other opinions?). I cant really help alot, i play AG+MG, but go to that IG section, and ask in game :)

Edit:
Oh and try to use skills called "missile shot" and "frenzy" only when grinding, if you feel that you run out of SP. Cause these are the main skills you almost need when doing anything, frenzy the most.
It is kinda hard to know what the skills do, but ill explain why frenzy is so good:
It adds a volley to your adv weapons (advanced=missile). So it makes for example a 1x1 weapon -> 2x1.
And in edrill case, it makes 1x4 -> 2x4, which is alot. So you will be shootin 8 missiles instead of 4. But refilling edrills is kinda expesive, so you may try some arrows too :) (which have a pattern of 1x2 without frenzy) :)

You don't have to use Edrills, although generally most IGears will use Edrill or Arrow types for their missiles. This is because those two types benefit the most from Frenzy, the IG's trademark buff. When you hit level 38, you can get Frenzy level 3, which allows you to fire an extra volley of missiles per salvo. (You'll notice that on missile stats, after attack power, there're numbers, like 1x2, 1x4, or 2x2, or whatever. This is the missiles' firing pattern; LV3 Frenzy adds one to the first number. Edrills and Arrows fire at 1x4 and 1x2 respectively, so you get double the missiles with Frenzy.)
Edrills have a base probability of 100%; this makes them excellent for fighting other IGears. The tradeoff is they deal out less damage. Arrows, on the other hand, have 74.90% base prob, but do considerably more damage. At level 15, you won't see many edrills or arrows; hammerheads worked fairly well for me at lower levels before I got a decent set of arrows, since they have decent prob and damage.

For radars...where it says Standard weapon distance and Advanced weapon distance...that's the range at which you can target enemies with standard or advanced weapons, respectively. The higher the better, since you're an IG look for advanced range (your missiles).
EDIT: Oh, and yellow/pink ion radars aren't special, they're just radars that get sold in the shop. There's also a blue ion radar that's a bit better than those two. However, all the ion radars are kinda mediocre compared to the better drop-only radars available.

Raise your agi as needed for better engines; generally there's one engine of each type that's the "best" in its area. The best fast engine (there're fast, medium, and slow engines, you'll eventually want one of each) that you can buy from the shop is the Jet-FFVII (level 27). You'll want to look for the Jet-F1, and when you're done grinding, the level 66 Jet-FF1 is largely considered the best late-game fast engine.
The Intertrans series are the IG's slow engine; slow engines are better for packed in spaces like the Dens.
The Base series are medium; they have the best maneuverability.
Prioritize getting a fast engine first; one of the IGear's most valuable tools is its speed.

Stat for the level 34/35 engines that have 500/9 for 34 (bcu mostly has this one) 500/8 for 35 (ani side). Try to practice feathering early on (going 470-490 on a 500 engine without losing boos time) i think there is a thread somewhere about this.

well, saying to just stat to atk is just a that, a saying, since you also have to stat at least the necessary points to agi to use a better engine. The mos recommended thing is to firstly stat for the lvl 27 jet (or if you can get your hands on the lvl 34, stat for that one). Don't bother on buying weps and radars off the npc, instead buy them from other palyers, since they'll probably be better than the npc items. It's recommended that you get a good arrow with high prob mainly for grinding purposes, since the bigger your weapon probability, the easier and faster you'll kill the enemy.
Fuel just stat whenever you get "overweight" (when your % goes over 80%), since it'd disable your booster. Spirit I would recommend stating at least to 15 without cpu, and try to get cpu's that give you fuel/spirit. The one's i used where these:
lvl 20: Surquince 7 SDR - 8 Atk, 2 Fuel (you could use the lvl 15 Thunderforce 4 FG34 instead of this)
lvl 30: Prelude 4001VF - 7 fuel, 8 Spirit
lvl 40: Prelude 5001FF - 11 fuel, 10 spirit
lvl 50: Prelude 7001 ARC - 15 fuel, 15spirit
Until i got my hands on a unique Thunderforce Final U (lvl 1 cpu that gives 20 atk, 15 spirit, 10 fuel). Radar try to get a Long range interception radar (since it's easy to get and cheap). You can get all skills, but there's not much use in, let's say, defense up. The ones i think as an IG you would be using the most are Frenzy, Concentration, Missile shot, Evasion, Fire shot (in that order).
Oh yes, and as it has been stated before, edrills and arrows are the weapons that benefit an IG the most, but you could also get tongphas or Hammerhead with good prob fixes. For your standar weapon, personally my favourite are the lancer/hunter kind (with a firing pattern of 2x1) and the gatling types (Jins, Bates), with good prob or reatack fixes.

you can get them from the warpoint shop for about 5k warpoints a pop, but if you want to buy one i think they were 4mil or somewhere around there, but as an IG arrows and edrills are your best friend, and feathering is oh so fun with a fast engine

Warpoint shop should be by the arena (I'm BCU Orion so I don't know the layout of the ANI city, but I know they're quite similar).

Acquiring warpoints does take awhile; it's probably easier to buy them with SPI from other players. I wouldn't worry about carding too much until you're higher leveled.

1.) SPI is the ingame currency. Usually you receive SPI cubes as a reward for nation war events (like strategic point/mothership wars) if you're present for the end. Just use it in your inventory (double-click) to get a decent amount of money.

2.) You get killmarks from landing hte killing blow on a player of the opposite nation (or some quest-specific mobs). Some killmarks can be used in combination with other items to make certain CPUs later on, otherwise they're good for experience (especially at high levels when mobs give you basically nothing).

3.) Datacubes are used in combination with other items. I'm not entirely sure what all of them are used in, although I know you can make some high-level CPUs by combining killmarks and datacubes.

I think they used to be a little too good, so they were nerfed somewhat.
I admit it can be rather frustrating right now to get torn apart in war (especially den wars, without a form I feel useless).
As well, it's annoying when more than one enemy is in your map; it's impossible to drive them off by oneself unless you're skilled (which I don't seem to be).
It all boils down to personal preference in the end, though. Don't let anyone decide what you should be for you; just play the gear which fits your personal style the best.

They're as bad as ppl make them out to be, but they're as good as you make them be. IMHO, I'll always prefer the IG over the other 3 (I've used them enough to at least know how to move them, not in a pro way, but I defend myself with them), mainly cause I love the feeling of really piloting a true fighter, and also because I love to be able to fly at high speeds =3.

I'm not sure if I should start over before i've spent too much time grinding or not.. I just want to play as something fun, but it's hard to find anything out about the classes until you actually make them. I-Gear looks VERY powerful, being able to spam so many missles, but it seems like it's not all good. As much as I want to play a fun class, I want to play one that doesn't suck... Anyways, I don't want to be an A-Gear because I heard they're really boring, and how "you could play one with a hand behind your back".

So.. What do you suggest, stick with I-G, move to M-G, or be B-G? From what I understand, most gears are balanced, with the exception of I-G being underbalanced. I'd also like to be something that requires some skill, if possible.. Not skill as in, grinding as much as you can skill, but piloting well, etc.

A friend of mine usually plays only when he's in my house. I suggested him when we were starting to make an IG, and up to the moment i see him having fun with it (he's lvl 51 atm). He's gone atack build while i'm eva build, and he's improving with his skills day by day. IMO, there's not really a gear that utterly sux. I think IG's are underpowered, because every "improvement" in any weapons ALWAYS brings prob with it, and the gear's most affected by prob are IG's, while there's nothing that increases pierce to fight back the def builds of the other gears.
One more thing, when being an IG pilot it's pretty much EVERYTHING about your pilot skills in order to survive. We don't have damage reductors, if you go eva it starts to kick in around lvl 50 with a kind of low dmg (mainly on def builds), if you go atk, you're screaming OHKO ME, but at the same time you're screaming FEAR ME AND MY UBBER DMG.

Bottom line: Every gear requires good pilotting skills, they just need them in different ways.

P.S. I won't tell you what to do, cause that's only your decission. Take the gear which make you feel the most comfortable and have the most fun with. Don't base your decission on "I've heard that". Comfirm it yourself.

I just don't want to grind for a few weeks only to realize I should've made a B or M gear. A long time ago in SCO, I made an I-Gear. I can't remember why I quit @_@.
